I still meditate for about 20 minutes almost every day.Lianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13354145408658237195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4654303930129608743.post-1887696664177498672016-10-11T08:24:57.993-05:002016-10-11T08:24:57.993-05:00This is my fear! I also...Oh yikes, yeah I would have felt the same!

I also took an MBSR course last year that was nothing like that. Taught by a woman who was a primary care NP for years and teaches the same course at the community health center where I was working.

In the meantime - I love these free ones. They even have 3-5 min ones (which I've done on lunch at work or when I somehow arrive 5 mins early) and I find her voice very gentle and soothing. Might be a little less daunting than starting with 45 mins a day!!

http://marc.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=22 Canucknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4654303930129608743.post-60705011043879916962016-10-06T19:51:17.806-05:002016-10-06T19:51:17.806-05:00Yay for full refund! I'm thinking I might try a course again in the spring when my life is a bit less hectic (ha!).

I really enjoyed 10% Happier! It was actually one of the things that motivated me to try MBSR.Solitary Diner (Also Known as The Frugalish Physician)https://www.blogger.com/profile/01239189582752445700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4654303930129608743.post-81193655755141722472016-10-06T14:54:48.939-05:002016-10-06T14:54:48.939-05:00Whoa. Here's the link: http://palousemindfulness.com/

I liked it because as a doc with a call schedule, it's pretty much impossible for me to commit to meeting on a particular day 8 weeks in a row. So I could work through the readings and watch the videos on my own time. They do recommend you spend about 30 minutes a day meditating (for the body scan and the sitting meditation there's also a 20 minute option). I think you get out of it what you put in.Lianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13354145408658237195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4654303930129608743.post-47778894963690062282016-10-06T14:21:09.332-05:002016-10-06T14:21:09.332-05:00I took a MBSR course a few years ago and it was no...I took a MBSR course a few years ago and it was nothing like that (inner spirits and all), so I hope you're not giving up on the whole idea of meditation yet :-). I've recently got the Calm App which offers guided meditations (10 - 15 minutes) and I like that one a lot.

For an entertaining and informative overview about various meditation practices I can also recommend the book "10% happier" by Dan Harris. dennasushttp://www.beforewegetbored.comnoreply@blogger.com
